A helicopter is one of the most interesting flying machines that has ever been built and when we lay it on your arrival, it’s sure to be one of the most exciting days you’ll ever have at school. To make sure we all have a fantastic time, we need to stay safe, so it’s very important that you pay close attention to what I’m about to tell you.
Hi, I’m Cram Middlecott, that pilot guy.
Welcome to our presentation on how to stay safe around a helicopter. Staying safe starts well before the helicopter even takes off to fly to your school. Everyone who is planning to come and see the helicopter must watch this video beforehand. Mom and Dad are very welcome to come along, so if you think they’re interested, please ask your teacher to email them a link to this video.
On the morning we’re planning to fly to your school, we need to make sure that the Oval is ready to become a mini airport. We must make sure that there are no loose objects like hats or plastic bags lying around the centre of your Oval.
Then we need to put out a circle of markers a minimum of 30 metres from the centre of your Oval. Everyone must stay around the edge of your Oval, well behind these markers, until the helicopter crew says it’s safe to come close.
We’ll fly over your school and make sure everything is safe before landing. Once we have landed and the rotor blades have stopped turning, the pilot will turn off the flashing red beacon. Then one of our team members will invite you to check out this cool machine up close.
If you see anyone trying to crawl underneath the helicopter or trying to spin the tower rotor, you must yell for a teacher straight away.
And that about wraps it up. If you have any questions about helicopters or anything to do with aviation, please write them down and I’ll do my best to answer them on the day.
Teachers, if you have any concerns at all, please don’t hesitate to call our team. You can find our contact details at our website crammiddlecoat.com.
I’m really looking forward to turning your school into a mini airport very soon.
Thanks for watching.
