How amazing is technology?
It’s amazing how technology has changed the way we work. These days, it’s just as easy to check emails from a remote beach as it is from your office desk. But that’s both a blessing and a curse, isn’t it?
As a small business owner, I often catch myself working even when I’m supposed to be “off the clock.” The tools and connectivity that make our lives so convenient can also blur the lines between work and personal time. And let’s face it, when you’re running the show, it’s hard to ignore the nagging thought that if you don’t do it, no one else will.
Yesterday, my partner and I drove to Northern New South Wales to visit her family. It was one of those perfect Aussie summer days—the kind where the horizon seems endless, and the scenery looks like it’s been hand-painted.
I did sneak in a bit of online work (old habits die hard!), but I made sure to balance it with moments of pure presence. As we drove through winding roads flanked by lush greenery, I let myself soak it all in. I paused, looked out at the breathtaking view, and reminded myself that these are the moments I work so hard for.
If there’s one lesson I’ve learned, it’s this: no matter how busy life gets, you’ve got to stop and smell the roses. Take the scenic route, breathe it all in, and remember why you’re hustling in the first place.
Technology might keep us connected to work 24/7, but it’s up to us to unplug every now and then. Balance is the real game-changer.
So, when was the last time you truly took a break?
