I’ve met plenty of young people who want to be fighter pilots or airline pilots… but an agricultural pilot? That was a first.
When I visited Cecil Plains State School last week, I met Jett — and straight away, you could tell this wasn’t just a passing interest. Jett was already speaking the language of aviation.
Growing up on his family’s cotton farm, he’s seen agricultural aircraft up close and in action. It’s a powerful reminder that you can be what you can see.
He’s got his own flight simulator at home and is flying the turboprop Air Tractor — not just for fun, but with real purpose and intent. That’s what stood out most.
Jett knows exactly where he’s heading. And when a young person has that kind of clarity and drive so early on, there’s no doubt they’re on a very exciting path.
Naturally, I had to promote Jett to Honorary First Officer 👨✈️
I’ve got a feeling this won’t be the last time we hear his name.
Looking forward to seeing you in the cockpit in a few years, Jett.
